Egy-két gyöngyszem tényleg akad most is pl.

Featuring the skillful expression of perspective using driftwood and overwhelming natural feel, this creation has the contents and dignity suited for the Grand Prize winning layout. Particularly, its layout formation is remarkable and impressive; it truly represents an underwater aquascape which is a habitat for fish while incorporating the element of tropical rainforest landscape with hanging aerial roots and vines into the tunnel-like composition that adds depth to the layout. This work is based on a good understanding of the essence of Nature Aquarium. Although only green plants are used in this layout, the diversity of plant species in natural ecosystem is produced by arranging a variety of plants that develop different shape of leaves and grow differently in the right places. This plant arrangement is worthy of mention. The superb overall quality of this layout was highly evaluated.

Title: Seclusion

Junmiao Xu
CHINA

A layout using fine branch-like material which has been seen frequently in recent IAPLC. This layout successfully expresses the perspective and provides powerful ambience by making a tunnel-like open space at the rear center and boldly arranging a mass of the aerial root-like materials on the front left side. The aquascape expressed using these techniques is reminiscent of submerged rainforest, and the schooling fish match well with it. Despite the tendency of this type of layout to have extremely small number of aquatic plants, this layout work uses various species of plants in a relatively large quantity, which creates a very positive feeling.

Title: Forest "curug cipendok"

Yoyo Prayogi
INDONESIA

The composition using plenty of trendy fine branch-like materials and having two tunnel-like open spaces is nothing new. What is noteworthy about this layout is its color sense and the contrast of dark and light. On top of epiphytic plants usually used in this type of layout, such as ferns and mosses, this creation also uses red stem plants. The contrast between the dark and heavy portion under the trees and the bright color above them successfully made this layout very impactful. White cosmetic sand is also used effectively to be a part of the dark and light contrast.

Title: Summertime

Luis Carlos Galarraga
BRAZIL

This layout fully expresses the aesthetic appeal of aquatic plants by combining various species of plants mainly including stem plants. Beautiful cluster of healthy stem plants is very attractive by itself. An aquascape with lush plants in the river is recreated in this concave composition layout by the stone and plant arrangements that depict the water flowing from the rear left to the front right, in addition to the schooling fish. This is a model Nature Aquarium in terms of an aquascape produced at a high quality level that is realized by the integrated factors of plant growing skills, layout making techniques and artistic sensibility.

Title: BREATH OF THE WILD

Roger Goh
SINGAPORE

Fine branch-like material used in this layout is a trend in the recent contests and this is why there are naturally many layout works based on the similar concept. Among such similar works, this layout is created with particular meticulousness and its composition is well organized. The point of this layout is the open space slightly off the center to the right and the presence of cosmetic sand leading to that open space. Especially at the tunnel-like open space divided into upper and lower portions, the silhouette of aerial roots and vines are produced using the slim branch-like material and this effectively provides a natural feel to the layout.

Title: Dryad's Ladder

Jin Liang
CHINA

Despite its frequently-seen combination of stones, driftwood and trendy fine branch-like materials, this layout produces dynamism and emphasizes perspective by placing layout materials until the very front of the tank and making the composition like looking up from underneath. In particular, the arch-like horizontal driftwood are the key point of this layout; the perspective is skillfully expressed by gradually reducing the size of these driftwood towards the background. Among mosses and ferns which are the main plants, the thick mosses shaped into round forms help soften the impression of the layout, producing a unique atmosphere in this work.

Title: Memories

Truong Thinh Ngo
VIETNAM

Although this layout uses only stones for composition material, it gives a soft overall impression thanks to the planting arrangement mainly consisting of stem plants. The contrast of hard stones and soft plants is an interesting and appealing feature of this layout work and it is, in addition to the overall color, a unique touch of the creator. The stone arrangement is compositionally well organized. White cosmetic sand is used effectively to bring a change to the composition. On top of it, aquatic plants other than stem plants are finely planted between the stones and this shows a high level of layout skill. This layout work received a high evaluation for the abovementioned factors and won the Bronze Prize.

Powerfulness of this layout is emphasized by the large tree trunk in the center with open space at its sides. However, the completely symmetric composition is a negative point. A little more elaboration should have been made to the composition, such as making a change between the driftwood on the right and left ends. Overall atmosphere and selection of fish species are excellent. If without the aforementioned negative point, this layout would have been ranked higher.

Like many other entries, this work also expresses aerial roots and vines using fine branch-like material. However, it is a little tedious because there was a number of this type layout since last year. The expression of floating tree roots and the light cast from the bottom has a strong impact, but at the same time, they also give a strong deja vu. This is why this layout work was not ranked higher despite its high skill level.

Healthy, beautiful aquatic plants are the essence of planted aquarium. This layout work grabs the eyes with vividly beautiful plants and attracts the viewers’ hearts with its meticulous fine details filled with natural feel, including stones and driftwood. The driftwood arch in the center and the winding cosmetic sand leading towards the background give a change to the basic concave composition, making the aquascape more profound.

Fine branches going towards the open space in the center give a strong visual impact. This layout has many commendable points such as highly skillful layout formation that is hard to tell how it was made at first sight and the aquatic plants finely planted between driftwood that can be found only on a closer look. However, this layout is a little questionable if it is seen as an aquascape or natural habitat for fish.
